US Air Force and MIT commission a lead AI pilot for their innovative project

Posted by in categories: business, government, information science, military, robotics/AI, space

The project, known as DAF-MIT AI Accelerator, selected a pilot out of over 1,400 applicants.

The United States Air Force (DAF) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) commissioned their lead AI pilot — a training program that uses artificial intelligence — in October 2022. The project utilizes the expertise at MIT and the Department of Air Force to research the potential of applying AI algorithms to advance the DAF and security.

The military department and the university created an artificial intelligence project called the Department of the Air Force-Massachusetts Institute of Technology Artificial Intelligence Accelerator (DAF-MIT AI Accelerator).

Lockheed Martin’s fusion-powered fighter and bomber plans

Posted by in categories: military, nuclear energy

A fascinating new look at the patents and defense projects in the US Military and its hopefully fusion powered future. (FUSION POWER: Only 20 years away for the last 40 years!! 😉)

Back in 2018, Lockheed Martin filed a patent for something it called a “plasma confinement system” — a device small enough to fit inside the fuselage of an F-16 Fighting Falcon that is capable of managing internal temperatures 10 times hotter than the center of the sun.

Geomagnetic fields reveal the truth behind Biblical narratives

Posted by in category: military

A joint study by TAU and the Hebrew University, involving 20 researchers from different countries and disciplines, has accurately dated 21 destruction layers at 17 archaeological sites in Israel by reconstructing the direction and/or intensity of the earth’s magnetic field recorded in burnt remnants. The new data verify the Biblical accounts of the Egyptian, Aramean, Assyrian, and Babylonian military campaigns against the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah.

Findings indicate, for example, that the army of Hazael, King of Aram-Damascus, was responsible for the destruction of several cities—Tel Rehov, Tel Zayit, and Horvat Tevet, in addition to Gath of the Philistines, whose destruction is noted in the Hebrew Bible. At the same time, the study refutes the prevailing theory that Hazael was the conqueror who destroyed Tel Beth-Shean.

The US Navy wants swarms of thousands of small drones

Posted by in categories: drones, military, space travel

My mini UAV idea! A sphere shaped UAV, somewhere in size between a basketball, and a small beach ball. Cloak technology, if i could get away with it. Power source, coated in ultra fancy photo voltaic skin, that powers super fancy batteries for an indefinite flight time and range. Engine, Ion Drive, noiseless, still sort of in an experimental phase. Weapons system, an electrical recoilless rifle, can fire assorted ammunition; no recoil, no flash, with an advanced targeting system, operates sort of like a sniper. Carries a laser designator to designate targets for guided bombs and smart artillery.

Drop thousands behind enemy lines, and cause complete chaos. Coming to a battle field in 2030?

Budget documents reveal plans for the Super Swarm project, a way to overwhelm defenses with vast numbers of drones attacking simultaneously.

Give peace a chance in Ukraine: The chorus rises, around the world and across the spectrum

Posted by in categories: ethics, existential risks, military

The escalating crisis exposes the weakness of Biden’s position. He is gambling with hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian lives, over which he has no moral claim, that Ukraine will somehow be in a stronger military position after a winter of war and power outages, with hundreds of thousands more Russian troops in the areas they control. This is a bet on a much longer war, in which U.S. taxpayers will shell out for thousands of tons of weapons and many more Ukrainians will die, with no clear endgame short of nuclear war.

#StopWar #NoWar #NuclearWar #WW3

Leaders in the global South, former U.S. diplomats and Henry Kissinger (!) agree: It’s time to negotiate for real.

Geomagnetic field dating confirms biblical narrative

Posted by in category: military

A groundbreaking interdisciplinary study by Tel Aviv University (TAU) and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HU) involving 20 international scientists and researchers has verified biblical accounts of the Egyptian, Aramean, Assyrian and Babylonian military campaigns against the kingdoms of Israel and Judah.

The study reconstructed changes in the magnetic field of the earth as recorded in 21 destruction layers in 17 archeological sites throughout Israel, constructing a variation curve of field intensity over time that can be used as a scientific dating tool.

Hybrid Intelligence: Coupling AI and the Human Brain | Edward Boyden bigthink

Posted by in categories: biotech/medical, finance, military, mobile phones, robotics/AI

Edward Boyden is a Hertz Foundation Fellow and recipient of the prestigious Hertz Foundation Grant for graduate study in the applications of the physical, biological and engineering sciences. A professor of Biological Engineering and Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT, Edward Boyden explains how humanity is only at its infancy in merging with machines. His work is leading him towards the development of a “brain co-processor”, a device that interacts intimately with the brain to upload and download information to and from it, augmenting human capabilities in memory storage, decision making, and cognition. The first step, however, is understanding the brain on a much deeper level. With the support of the Fannie and John Hertz Foundation, Ed Boyden pursued a PhD in neurosciences from Stanford University.

The Hertz Foundation mission is to provide unique financial and fellowship support to the nation’s most remarkable PhD students in the hard sciences. Hertz Fellowships are among the most prestigious in the world, and the foundation has invested over $200 million in Hertz Fellows since 1963 (present value) and supported over 1,100 brilliant and creative young scientists, who have gone on to become Nobel laureates, high-ranking military personnel, astronauts, inventors, Silicon Valley leaders, and tenured university professors. Vladimir Putin Justifies Use of Nuclear Weapons Citing the U.S. Precedent in World War Two

Posted by in categories: military, policy

Putin in threatening to use nuclear weapons in the Ukraine war is following Adolf Hitler’s precedent, not the U.S.

When Truman chose the atomic bomb over policy options that likely would have killed millions more, he did it to end a war started by Japan.
