Joint research led by Michiko Fujii of the University of Tokyo demonstrates a possible formation mechanism of intermediate-mass black holes in globular clusters, star clusters that could contain tens of thousands or even millions of tightly packed stars.
Well, there should be intermediate black holes. What else would bridge the gap between stellar black holes and supermassive black holes? These black holes of intermediate masses could explain how supermassive black holes got so big so quickly and so early in the universe’s history!
